The Ibri II Solar Power Project is located in Oman. It is a large-scale solar power plant that was developed by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) in collaboration with a consortium of companies, including ACWA Power, Gulf Investment Corporation, and Alternative Energy Projects Co..
The Ibri II Solar Power Project has a capacity of 500 MW and utilizes a photovoltaic (PV) solar technology. The plant is spread over an area of 1,300 hectares and consists of more than 1.4 million solar panels. The electricity generated by the plant is expected to meet the needs of around 33,000 homes and offset about 340,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The Ibri II Solar Power Project is part of Oman's strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. The project is expected to contribute significantly to Oman's renewable energy target of generating 10% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
